Back up game progress before installing a mod
CroakerMod ·
Your saves are the valuable part. Protect them before you mod.
Prefer cloud saves where offered
Many games sync progress to Google Play Games or a publisher account. Sign in and trigger a sync before installing anything — cloud saves survive reinstalls, device swaps, and mod updates alike. Verify the sync timestamp so you know it actually uploaded.
Guest accounts are fragile
Progress tied to a guest account lives only on the device. Reinstalling, clearing data, or switching phones wipes it permanently. Link the game to a real account (Google, Apple, or the publisher login) before installing a mod — this single step prevents most progress-loss stories.
Use Android backup for the rest
For games without cloud save, use Android’s built-in backup (Settings → System → Backup) before major changes. It captures app data for cooperating apps. It is not perfect — some games opt out — but it turns a disaster into an inconvenience.
Keep the mod updated, not reinstalled
Once your progress is safe, prefer updates over reinstalls: install new mod versions over the old one from the CroakerMod app. Reinstalling from scratch is the most common way progress dies, and it is almost never required.
